Time to relax...

After a long weekend in Amsterdam what we both needed was some time for relaxation!  But it was also time to move into our apartment which we were REALLY pumped for!

Tuesday night we moved in and we are thrilled, we have a huge kitchen, living room and a nice loft bedroom.  There are some interesting "quirks" to the apartment, one of which is climbing up a narrow and steep staircase to get to our bed in the loft - but we are still very happy to have a place that now feels like home!  The rest of the week was spent unpacking and settling into the new place.  Jay won the best boyfriend award and bought some beautiful roses from the market to really make the new place homey.

Thursday night we went out to dinner with my best bud from college Allison's sister and husband and their daughter, Melissa, Taylor and Maddie.  They took us to this amazing restaurant in the "Lower Town" of Brussels called Restobier http://www.restobieres.eu/index.php/en/nd  .  Every dish was made with beer and we were able to try some of the very local dishes to Belgium.  Taylor also was able to teach Jay all about Belgium beer and had us a taste some (many, hehe) of Belgian's finest beers.  We're excited to join them in January for a ski trip down to France!  We'll see how the skiing compares in Europe!

This weekend we decided to stay in Brussels and relax a little bit.  Friday night, my friend Mike (who is on transfer with Bain in the London office) visited us.  We decided it was time again to go to Jay's favorite bar - Delirium - we also made a pit stop at Delirium's Absinthe bar - and we wondered why we were all so hungover the next day!

On Saturday Jay and I went on Mission Impossible - a search for an aerobed for when all of our visitors come.  Along the way we were able to stop at some great shops, cafes, etc but unfortunately the bed store only had a king aerobed for 299 Euros - which means Mom and Dad are bringing some extra luggage (an aerobed for us to borrow) when they fly out this week for their visit.

Sunday we finally were able to rent bikes!  We used our Belgian bank card and Voila we got the bikes! We biked around Brussels and this time, I managed to to stay on the bike.  The amount of bruises that I have from being an extreme clutz over here is ridiculous!  Unfortunately - we also tried to catch the Pats game that night, but the "American football bar" could only broadcast 2 games, and the Pats weren't one of them this week.  I figure it worked out for the best, I missed having to watch Jay get angrier and angrier, so I think it was a good week to miss!

This week I'm really looking forward to my parents visit, they arrive TODAY and we have plenty planned for them, including a trip to Brugge on Friday!!  I have off from work on Thursday and Friday of this week (Thursday is Armistace Day), you can all get jealous now, but I'll be working on Thanksgiving so you can rub it in then ;)

Have a great week and I will catch you up on the parents visit, its going to be a blast!
